East Timor's Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao has responded angrily to an alleged leaked United Nations document that accuses him of seeking more power at the expense of the Parliament and the courts.
The document was published by local media and is reportedly an assessment of East Timor's governance delivered as a slideshow for a UN retreat in January.

At a seminar in Dili in this morning, Xanana Gusmao rejected the UN report saying he remained committed to democracy and had never interfered with the judiciary.

The UN has not confirmed the authenticity of the leaked report but says it will comment on the matter soon.
